FAQs

Wild & Divine ~ Sacred Stones & Celtic Circles

Frequently Asked Questions

- How large is the group?

This journey is intentionally limited to 12 sojourners, allowing for a relaxed pace, meaningful connection, and access to quieter places that larger groups cannot reach.

- Is this a fast‑paced tour?

No. Wild & Divine is designed for travelers who value depth over speed. Days are thoughtfully paced with time to explore, reflect, and absorb each place rather than rushing from site to site.

What meals are included?

Four group dinners are included:

  • Welcome Dinner in Dublin
  • First‑night Dinner in Kilkenny
  • First‑night Dinner in Galway
  • Farewell Dinner in Trim (final evening)

In addition, breakfast is included on all full touring days (all mornings except arrival day and departure day).

All lunches are on your own, allowing flexibility and personal choice.

Are lunches included?

No. All lunches are intentionally left open so you may dine where and how you wish. Your host is always happy to offer suggestions.

What is the accommodation like?

Accommodations are a carefully selected mix of 4‑star and boutique hotels, chosen for comfort, character, and central locations.

Will we have free time?

Yes. While this is a hosted group journey, there is ample personal time built in — particularly in Kilkenny, Killarney, Galway, and Trim.

What happens on Day 8 — Galway or The Connemara?

You may choose between:

  • A group excursion into the Connemara with a visit to Kylemore Abbey, or
  • A free day in Galway to explore independently

Both options are equally supported — choose what best suits your energy and interests.

How strenuous is this journey?

This trip involves moderate walking, often on uneven ground at historic and monastic sites. We move at an unhurried pace and take breaks as needed.

What transportation is used?

Transportation is provided by Executive Express Coaches, a trusted Irish operator.

We travel with a professional driver‑guide with over 15 years of experience.

Transportation is by 16‑passenger Mercedes Sprinter Coach, featuring:

  • Leather seating
  • Four tables
  • Panoramic windows
  • Climate control (AC & heating)
  • Refrigerator (front & rear)
  • Onboard coffee machine
  • Onboard Wi‑Fi

This vehicle allows access to smaller roads and lesser‑visited places while traveling comfortably.

Who is hosting this journey?

This journey is personally hosted by Byways & Backroads, led by a seasoned travel advisor with over twenty years of travel experience in Ireland.

Your host has spent decades cultivating local relationships and seeking out off‑the‑beaten‑path sacred sites and landscapes, allowing the journey to unfold with authenticity, care, and deep cultural context.

Is travel insurance required?

Yes. Comprehensive travel insurance is required.

Credit card travel insurance is not usually recognized in Ireland, and coverage rules can change. Guests must carry appropriate coverage and provide proof of insurance prior to departure.

Your host can also assist you in purchasing comprehensive travel insurance if needed.
